Hi, everybody. This week, we made it official—I'mgoing to Cuba. 大家好。这个星期，我们正式决定，我即将出访古巴。

When Michelle and I go to Havana next month, it willbe the first visit of a U.S. president to Cuba in nearly90 years. And it builds on the decision I made morethan a year ago to begin a new chapter in ourrelationship with the people of Cuba.

I'vealways said that change won't come to Cuba overnight. But as Cuba opens up, it will meanmore opportunity and resources for ordinary Cubans. Today, the American flag flies over our embassy in Havana, and our diplomats are interactingmore broadly with the Cuban people. More Americans are visiting Cuba than at any time in thelast 50 years—Cuban-American families; American students, teachers, humanitarian volunteers,faith communities—all forging new ties and friendships that are bringing our countries closer.And when direct flights and ferries resume, even more of our citizens will have the chance totravel and work together and know each other.

ew Wi-Fi hotspots, more Cubans arestarting to go online and get information from the outside world. In both our countries, there'soverwhelming support for this new relationship. And in Cuba today, for the first time in a halfcentury, there is hope for a different future, especially among Cuba's young people who havesuch extraordinary talent and potential just waiting to be unleashed.

My visit will be an opportunity to keep moving forward. I'll meet with President Castro todiscuss how we can continue normalizing relations, including making it easier to trade andeasier for Cubans to access the Internet and start their own businesses. As I did when I metPresident Castro last year, I'll speak candidly about our serious differences with the Cubangovernment, including on democracy and human rights. I'll reaffirm that the United Stateswill continue to stand up for universal values like freedom of speech and assembly and religion.

And I'll speak directly to the Cuban people about the values weshare and how I believe we can be partners as they work for the future they want.

2 Situation of today’s American美国的现状奥巴马每周演讲

Hi, everybody. I'm speaking to you today fromSpringfield, Illinois. 大家好！今天，我在伊利诺伊州斯普林费尔德市向大家演讲。

I spent eight years in the state senate here. It was aplace where, for all our surface differences in a stateas diverse as Illinois, my colleagues and I actuallyshared a lot in common. We fought for our principles,and voted against each other, but because weassumed the best in one another, not the worst, wefound room for progress. We bridged differences toget things done.

It convinced me that ifwe just approached our politics the same way we approach our daily lives, with common sense,a commitment to fairness, and the belief that we're all in this together, there's nothing wecan't do.

That's why I announced, right here, in Springfield that I was running for President. And myfaith in the generosity and fundamental goodness of the American people is rewarded everyday.

But I'll be the first to admit that the tone of our politics hasn't gotten better, but worse. Toomany people feel like the system is rigged, and their voices don't matter. And when goodpeople are pushed away from participating in our public life, more powerful and extreme voiceswill fill the void. They'll be the ones who gain control over decisions that could send a youngsoldier to war, or allow another economic crisis, or roll back the rights that generations ofAmericans have fought to secure.

The good news is there's also a lot we can do about this, from reducing the influence of moneyin our politics, to changing the way we draw congressional districts, to simply changing the waywe treat each other. One thing I focused on, for example, was how we can make voting easier, not harder, andmodernize it for the way we live now. Here in Illinois, a new law allows citizens to register andvote at the polls on Election Day. It also expands early voting, which makes it much easier forworking folks and busy parents. We're also considering automatic voter registration for everycitizen when they apply for a driver's license. And I'm calling on more states to adopt stepslike these. Because when more of us vote, the less captive our politics will be to narrow interests– and the better our democracy will be for our children.

Nine years after I first announced for this office, I still believe in a politics of hope. And for allthe challenges of a changing world; for all the imperfections of our democracy; choosing apolitics of hope is something that's entirely up to each of us.

3 Computer science for all全面的计算机课程奥巴马每周演讲

Hi everybody. As I said in my State of the Unionaddress, we live in a time of extraordinary change-change that's affecting the way we live and the waywe work. New technology replaces any job wherework can be automated. Workers need more skills toget ahead. These changes aren't new, and they'reonly going to accelerate. So the question we have toask ourselves is,

―How can we make sure everyonehas a fair shot at success in this new economy?‖

The answer to that question starts with education. That's why my Administration hasencouraged states to raise standards. We've cut the digital divide in our classrooms in half.We've worked with Congress to pass a bipartisan bill to set the expectation that every studentshould graduate from high school ready for college and a good job. And thanks to the hard workof students, teachers, and parents across the country, our high school graduation rate is at anall-time high.

Now we have to make sure all our kids are equipped for the jobs of the future-which means notjust being able to work with computers, but developing the analytical and coding skills topower our innovation economy. Today's auto mechanics aren't just sliding under cars tochange the oil; they're working on machines that run on as many as 100 million lines of code.That's 100 times more than the Space Shuttle. Nurses are analyzing data and managingelectronic health records. Machinists are writing computer programs. And workers of all kindsneed to be able to figure out how to break a big problem into smaller pieces and identify theright steps to solve it.

In the new economy, computer science isn't an optional skill-it's a basic skill, right along withthe three ―Rs.‖ Nine out of ten parents want it taught at their children's schools. Yet right now,only about a quarter of our K through 12 schools offer computer science. Twenty-two statesdon't even allow it to count toward a diploma.

So I've got a plan to help make sure all our kids get an opportunity to learn computer science,especially girls and minorities. It's called Computer Science For All. ke Delaware and Hawaii, companies like Google and SalesForce, and organizations likeCode.org have made commitments to help more of our kids learn these skills.

4Provide clothes for woman to success为女性提供衣服使她们走向成功之路

Many single low-income women who try to enter thework force find themselves competing for jobs thatrequire business clothes they can’t afford. That’swhere Suited for Change comes in.

很多努力寻找工作的低收入单身女性发现，自己要通过竞争找到工作就需要合适的职业服装,但是她们又买不起。这就是―搭配着装适应改变‖这个机构应运而生的原因。

―We offer women professional attire andprofessional consultation to assist them inentering or re-entering the workforce,‖ says Michelle Yorkman, a Program Director at Suited forChange. The D.C. non-profit is all about empowering women, whatever their background,unemployed or on welfare, recovering drug addicts, victims of domestic abuse, recentimmigrants. Over the past 15 years, the organization has helped more than 12,000 women asthey looked for work.

―We have suits. We have ates. We have dresses，‖ she says.

―During winter months, we havecoats. So the first visit they receive two outfit

s and then once they've secured full-timeemployment, they can come back and receive three more, so that they have a week’s worth ofoutfits. With these outfits they get shoes, a handbag, accessories as well as one on oneconsultation with one of our volunteers to assist them in mixing and matching the outfits tomaximize the clothing that they receive.‖

43, has been employed as a temporary work and now hopes to find a permanentposition.

Volunteer Elaine Polkey serves as a wardrobe consultant to the visiting women.

―But you can get them to experiment, try on. That’s Ithink the key. Some people just know how to dress. They look fantastic. Other people are reallya little bit shy about trying new things. And when you can get them to do it, they can see howgood they look. That’s when the confidence grows.

Building self confidence is the ultimate goal, according to Suited for Change’s Michelle York-man.

―You’re going to feel as though you arequalified. You’re going to feel that your answers are alright because you feel good aboutyourself and you are not self conscious about how you are being perceived or whether or notyour clothes are appropriate for that job.‖

A visit to the organization's vast fashion warehouse, she says, can be a transformingexperience for the client and her whole family.

―There have been clients who had theirchildren waiting for them in the lobby. When they come out to show their new suit, the family isso oveijoyed because they understand that this woman is making the step to become aworking woman, which comes with a certain prestige. Happy New Year, everybody.I am fired up for theyear that stretches out before us.That's because ofwhat we've accomplished together over the pastseven.

Seven years ago, our businesses were losing 800,000jobs a month.They've now created jobs for 69straight months, driving the unemployment ratefrom a high of 10% down to 5%.

Seven years ago, too many Americans went without health insurance.We've now covered morethan 17 million people, dropping the rate of the uninsured below 10% for the very first time.

That's especially true for one piece of unfinished business, that's our epidemic of gunviolence.

Last month, we remembered the third anniversary of Newtown.This Friday, I'll be thinkingabout my friend Gabby Giffords, five years into her recovery from the shooting in Tucson.Andall across America, survivors of gun violence and those who lost a child, a parent, a spouse togun violence are forced to mark such awful anniversaries every single day.
