The research revealed that seven out of ten smokers have tried to kick the habit at some point.

Imagine if you could bend your iPhone to make it fit in your pocket better, or roll up your iPad to make it more easily to be put in your small bag.Well that day is coming, and it might be sooner than most people thought.EndGadge.a blog network, is reporting that researchers in Korea have invented a battery that can be bent nearly in half.TechCrunch, a web that mainly offers technology news, says that the new battery when combined with bendable screens still under development could mean truly bendable 4evices(设备) , or at last, ePaper that would work like that in the Hairy Potter movies.
The researchers, all from the Korean Advanced Institute of Science and Technology and led by Keon Jae Lee, have come up with a new material to use as the case for the battery, which is one of the parts that up to now have not been bendable, TechCrunch says. The others are the \(电极) that allow the electricity to pass in and out.The battery itself, which cart be recharged again, works the same as other batteries. In this case, they say, the researchers-tried all kinds of plastics that were both bendable and able to keep the battery 'from escaping from its case.To make bendable electrodes, EndGadget says, the team used a nano- structured(纳米结构的) material that is able to stand repeated bending and unbending; The end result is a fully bendable electronic device. And if that s not cool enough, its also clear, meaning yeS6^de could allow the battery to be seen, or in this case, seen through.
Such devices are still some time away however, as bendable screens are still in the research stage, TechCrunch says. Some have been made actually but most are far too expensive to consider using in hand - held electronic devices. Most researchers in die fields believe that solutions will be found to all the present problems, and expect consumers to have bendable electronics in their pockets within three or four years.

Of all the flying; pests, gnats might be the most annoying.Though they're harmless, they hover and buzz around our heads, driving us crazy.Gnats are also known as vinegar flies or fruit flies because of their attraction to the smell of rotten food. This explains why they particularly enjoy the areas around drains and trash cans.
Gnats are most commonly found around fruit, saturated house plants, compost piles, and other rotting, smelly food or plants. The problem is there's no such thing as one gnat.In fact, one gnat can lay two to three hundred eggs in its two to four month life span.If you frequently see gnats hovering around your sink drain or trash can, there's a good chance they're laying eggs inside your home.
If you don't want gnats around, you have to cut off their food supply. This means fruits and vegetables have to go in the refrigerator or a bin the bugs can't penetrate.Make sure house plants stay damp, but not wet, and they must have the proper drainage.Gnats just love over -watered house plants.Empty trashcans regularly and don't allow rotting food to sit in the house.Make sure all trash receptacles and sink drains are cleaned thoroughly, and don't have any old rancid food stuck to them.Never let dirty dishes stand in the sink. 56.What is the best tide of the passage?

The La Nina weather anomaly (反常) will persist into the spring of 2009 but should gradually weaken during that period, the U.S.Climate Prediction Center said on Thursday.
In a monthly update, the CPC said \...indicate a gradual weakening of La Nina through February - April 2009, with an eventual transition to neutral conditions.
CPC is an office under the National Oceanic and atmospheric Administration ( NOAA).The body said La Nina will last into spring of this year.
La Nina literally means \.It results in cooler - than - normal waters in the Pacific Ocean. The more famous El Nino weather phenomenon has the opposite effect.Scientists believe La Nina spurs hurricane formation in the Atlantic basin by hindering wind shear that breaks up storms as they form.
CPC said the potential impact of La Nina during February to April 2009 include above average precipitation in the Ohio and Tennessee valleys and below average rainfall in the south western and southeastern United States. It said the other impacts are below average temperatures in the Pacific Northwest and above average temperatures in much of the southern United States.Indonesia, the most populous country in Southeast Asia and a major producer of coffee, cocoa, palm oil and other agricultural products, could get above average precipitation, the CPC
added.
