M: True enough(确实如此). Let?s see what we can do about it. I?ll talk to them first thing in the morning. Text 5
M: OK, the number is … M64. Does anyone have number M64?
W: Oh, yes, I?ve got M64! This is amazing! I?ve never won anything like this before! I?m so happy!
M: Well, you?ll be even happier when you start watching your favorite programs on it at home! Text 6
M: Cathy, you look worried. Why?
W: ⑥According to the screen our flight to Sydney has been delayed by 3 hours, so now we won?t
be boarding the plane until 2 pm. But we have a meeting at night.
M: That shouldn?t be a problem. The meeting with our customers isn?t until 8 o?clock.
⑦Unfortunately we won?t have time to take a tour of the city as we planned. I have been looking forward to it for a long time.
W: What a pity! However, we can look around next time. Text 7
M: Just smell that, will you? Cool, isn?t it? W: Hmm … I think it?ll be great.
M: Better than that popcorn we made when we burnt the pan. Do you remember? Mom made us
promise never to make it at home again.
W: She didn?t need to. It was seriously bad. ⑧We?ll just have to remember to get this pizza out. M: Yeah, in 15 minutes it?ll be ready.
W: Yes. What do you think we should have for dessert? I fancy some cakes. M: Let?s make one. Text 8
M: Flora, when you were little, What did you like to do?
W: When I was small and I was at junior high school I used to like playing soccer with my friends.
(10) Actually in Kenya, (11)What?s different from other countries is we used to make our own soccer ball to play. So, it was very easy. M: Wow. How did you make the soccer balls?
W: We used to collect like plastic and paper and bind(绑) them with string to make something
round. So it was like, you didn?t have to spend any money.
M: Wow, that?s ingenious. That?s great. So were you a good soccer player?
W: Not really. I used to like playing soccer but I was not very good actually, to tell the truth.
M: Yeah, like me. I wasn?t a very good athlete. I mean I like sports but I was never very good. Um,
so do you play soccer in Japan?
14
W: Sometimes … (12) Right now. actually I?m not playing anymore because the work in the bank
takes up much of my time. Text 9
W: Where are you from, Corey?
M: I?m from Canada. I?ve just moved here. W: Canada! Are you good at winter sports then?
M: Yeah, I live winter sports very much, such as skiing and snowboarding. I also like ice diving. W: Wow! That sounds quite exciting!
M: Yeah. (13)I?ve been doing that for 7 years, since I was 9. What do you do in your free time? W: Well. swimming used to be my favorite hobby. (14) but now I spend most of my spare time in
the acting club I joined last year and I really love the theater—I really want to be an actress one day. Have you got any other hobbies?
M: Um. I guess I enjoy playing online computer games. I feel quite relaxed when playing the
games and it helps me make new friends. How about you? Do you spend much time online? W: Well, I?m not interested in computer games. (15)I think it makes no sense(毫无意义) spending
time playing something with strangers. I prefer chatting face to face with my friends. M: I like chatting with friends too.
W: (16) Oh, It?s time for class. Our English teacher is coming. After class I?ll introduce you to
some of my friends. Text 10
M: Hello, everyone. My name?s Ben. I?m from a group called “Nature”. We run courses for young
people like you to do during weekends. Now I?d like to tell you about the courses you can do on Saturday mornings. You can learn a lot about things like science and maths at school. These courses are really about giving you students the chance to come and find out wildlife. I?s an area that tends to get forgotten. We usually take students to a wild place that?s near their home. Sometimes we go to a beach or a lake, (18) but we?ve planned for you to go to a forest this time. That?s the closest place for you. and the easiest to get to. Taking part in our activities means you get to do all sorts of things including building a fire, which you wouldn?t normally be allowed to do at home. While you?re with us, we?ll also show you how to make things out of different materials. On the last course, everyone designed backpacks which they were very pleased with. (19) This time we?d get you to design and make a birdhouse. When it is finished, you can take it home and show it to your family. We think you?ll really enjoy this. Now, we?d like you to come and do some activities with us. (20) You spend three hours each week with us and the courses last for 12 weeks. That might sound a long time, but we think you?ll not be sorry when it?s over. Now, any questions?
